Meeting Sangay & His Wife – The Heart Behind Our Himalayan Yak Chews

Deep in the breathtaking landscapes of Ramechhap, Nepal, at an altitude of 3,000 feet, we met the incredible husband-and-wife duo behind our Himalayan Yak ChewsSangay and his wife. Their warm smiles and deep connection to the land immediately made us feel at home, and as we sat with them overlooking the rolling hills, we knew we were about to witness something truly special.

Sangay, a skilled artisan and lifelong herder, wakes before sunrise to tend to their yaks, ensuring they roam freely in the high-altitude pastures, grazing on wild grasses and medicinal herbs. His wife, a master in traditional cheese-making, carefully collects the fresh yak milk, using time-honored techniques passed down through generations to create churpi, the hard Himalayan cheese that is the foundation of our yak chews.

With only three simple ingredients—yak milk, a pinch of salt, and lime juice—she skillfully boils and stirs the milk, watching for the perfect moment when it curdles. The curds are then hand-pressed into molds, naturally smoked, and dried for weeks, transforming into the durable, protein-rich chews that dogs love.

By supporting our Himalayan Yak Chews, you’re not only giving your dog a healthy, long-lasting, and natural treat—you’re also supporting hardworking families like Sangay’s, preserving a centuries-old craft, and empowering local communities in Nepal.

Our Story

The Story of Our NePawli Yak Chew

High in the pristine mountains of Ramechhap, Nepal, where the air is crisp and the yaks roam freely, a centuries-old tradition of handcrafted cheese has been passed down through generations. What began as a nutritious snack for the local Himalayan people has now become a beloved treat for dogs around the world.

Our journey started with a simple idea—to share the purity and goodness of the Himalayas with pets everywhere. We partnered with local farmers and artisans who have perfected the art of making churpi, a traditional hard cheese made from yak and cow milk. Using only natural ingredients—milk, a pinch of salt, and lime juice—we carefully craft each chew using time-honored methods, slowly drying and smoking them for weeks to achieve the perfect texture and durability.

Driven by our love for dogs and commitment to sustainability, we ensure that every Himalayan Yak Chew is 100% natural, free from artificial additives, and ethically sourced. By supporting local farmers, we not only provide a healthy, protein-rich, and long-lasting chew for dogs, but we also uplift Himalayan communities and preserve a rich cultural heritage.

Today, dogs around the world enjoy the same wholesome, nutrient-packed treat that Himalayan people have cherished for centuries. From the mountains to your furry friend, our yak chews are a symbol of purity, tradition, and love.
